Ricci began to be recognized and celebrated as a young actress, especially for her performance as Wednesday Addams on The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (2000) as well as Kat Harvey as seen in Casper (1995). Ricci started playing the roles of an adult after The Ice Storm (1997) then and then The Opposite of Sex, for which Ricci received the Golden Globe Award nomination as the Best Actress.
